Setting Up and Using Content Requests for Cross-Team Collaboration

Overview

This article explains how to set up and use content requests in Contently for cross-team collaboration. You’ll learn how to create intake forms for collecting content ideas and requests from internal teams and manage the submission process efficiently.

Information

Content requests in Contently allow teams to gather ideas and requests for content from different departments or stakeholders within an organization. By setting up intake forms, non-content team members can submit content ideas without needing a Contently account, making collaboration seamless across departments such as sales, marketing, or customer success.

To set up content requests for cross-team collaboration, follow these steps:

  • Log into your Contently account and navigate to the "Ideation" tab.
  • Select "Content Requests" from the dropdown menu.
  • Click on "Create Request Form" to set up a new intake form.

Designing the intake form:

  • Give your form a title that reflects its purpose, such as "Marketing Content Ideas" or "Help Center Article Requests."
  • Add fields for the required information. These might include the requestor’s name, department, content idea, and any relevant details such as target audience or preferred format.
  • Specify whether certain fields are mandatory to ensure that submissions include all necessary information.
  • Once the form is designed, click "Save" to make it available for use.

Managing content requests:

  • Once a request is submitted, it will appear as a line item on your "Content Requests" page.
  • Each submission will show details such as the title of the request, who submitted it, the form they used, and the submission date.
  • You can filter and sort these requests to prioritize certain ideas or assign them to team members for review.
  • Update the status of each request as it moves through the review or content creation process (e.g., "Under Review," "In Progress," "Completed").

This system is highly effective for organizations working with multiple departments or lines of business, as it provides a structured way to gather and track content requests. Internal teams can easily submit ideas without needing a Contently account, streamlining collaboration and ensuring that no valuable content ideas are missed.

Summary

Content requests in Contently allow for efficient cross-team collaboration by enabling non-content team members to submit ideas via customized intake forms. Once set up, these forms help gather content requests from various departments, allowing content teams to review, prioritize, and manage submissions in an organized way. This ensures that content ideas from across the organization are captured and addressed in a timely manner.
